What Is Shopify Cost Per Item Sync?
When enabled, this feature reads the cost price you have set on each product in Shopify and brings it into Link My Books automatically. It supports two modes:
Update existing products only — costs are updated for products already in Link My Books.
Create new SKUs for unmatched products — if a Shopify product does not yet exist in Link My Books, a new SKU entry is automatically created for it.
How to Enable Shopify Cost Per Item Sync
Follow the steps below to set up the feature for your account.
Go to Product Costs in the main navigation.
Select the Integrations tab.
Locate Enable Shopify Cost Sync and toggle it on.
(Optional) Enable SKU Creation if you want Link My Books to automatically create entries for products that do not yet have a matching SKU.
To enable this select the Settings tab within Product Costs, and locate Allow Manual Product Creation, then toggle it on. Save Settings.
Note: If SKU Creation is turned off, only products that already exist in Link My Books will have their costs updated.
Syncing Your Product Costs
Once the integration is enabled, there are two ways your costs will be synchronised:
Automatic Sync (Twice Daily)
Link My Books automatically syncs your Shopify product costs twice a day.
You do not need to take any action for this to happen. When a sync completes and changes are detected, you will receive an email notification confirming the update.
Manual Sync (Sync Now)
If you need your costs updated immediately — for example, after changing prices in Shopify — you can trigger a sync manually:
Go to Product Costs → Integrations.
Click Sync Costs.
Wait for the sync to complete. A history of completed syncs will appear on the same page.
What to Expect After Enabling
Please allow some time for costs to appear after first enabling the feature. The initial sync will run as part of the next scheduled cycle or immediately if you click Sync Costs.
Cost data will populate your product list in Link My Books.
A sync history log will be visible on the Integrations page.
You will receive email notifications when costs are updated automatically.
If SKU Creation is enabled, new product entries will appear for any unmatched Shopify items.
Frequently Asked Questions
Why are my costs not showing yet?
If you have just enabled the feature, costs will not appear instantly.
Use the Sync Costs button to trigger an immediate sync, or wait for the next automatic sync cycle.
Make sure that cost prices are actually set on your products within Shopify, as products with no cost price will not return any data.
Do I need to enable SKU Creation?
No, SKU Creation is optional.
If all your Shopify products are already matched in Link My Books, you do not need to enable it.
Turn it on only if you want Link My Books to automatically create new entries for products that do not yet have a matching SKU.
Will I be notified when costs change?
Yes. When the automatic sync runs and detects any changes to your product costs, Link My Books will send you an email notification.
How often does the automatic sync run?
The automatic sync runs twice per day.
If you need your data updated sooner, you can always use the Sync Costs button to run a manual sync at any time.
