How to enable QuickBooks Classes in Link My Books

Turn on QuickBooks Classes so Link My Books tags each settlement line by sales channel or marketplace.

Written by Daniel Little

What QuickBooks Classes do

QuickBooks Classes let you break down your data inside QuickBooks by sales channel or marketplace. Link My Books adds the class you choose to each line of the settlements it sends to QuickBooks, so you can run reports — for example a Profit & Loss by marketplace — to see your true profit per channel.

Before you start

  • You need QuickBooks Online Plus or Advanced.

  • Class tracking must already be switched on in QuickBooks itself — turning the toggle on in Link My Books alone is not enough; without it, classes won't be applied.

How to turn it on

  1. Go to Settings → Settlement Settings and open the Tracking Classes tab.

  2. Turn on Enable QuickBooks Classes.

  3. Under Class Assignments, choose a class for each marketplace or payment gateway.

  4. Save your changes.

If you don't have any classes in QuickBooks yet, use the "Click Here" link on that tab to create some using our defaults.

Note: this applies to future settlements only — settlements already sent won't be changed.
