How to remove a client account

A guide to removing a client from your subscription

Written by Sharon Wallace

Accountants and bookkeepers have full access to managing their clients, including adding and removing new clients. You can do this from the Link My Books accountant dashboard. This article is for accountant/bookkeeper users only.

Head over to your accountant dashboard by clicking the Link My Books logo in the top left.

Then click the 3 dots to the right of the client and remove the client from your dashboard.

The client will then be notified and have 14 days to accept ownership before the account is purged.

Transferring a client's subscription to the client

This same flow is how you hand a client's account, and its billing, back to them. If a client wants to take over their own Link My Books subscription rather than being billed through your accountant dashboard, remove them from your dashboard using the steps above. They will be notified and have 14 days to accept ownership, at which point they set up their own subscription and take on their own billing. Their sales channels, settings and historical data stay with the account throughout, so nothing needs to be reconnected.

✅ Removed a client by accident? You can usually undo it

If you removed a client within the last 14 days and the account has not yet been purged, you don't need to add the client back from scratch. Please contact our support team via the blue chat icon with the client's account name and the sales channel name, and we can restore it directly from your audit history straight back into your dashboard.
