If you encounter the "Add missing currency" error message on settlements within your Link My Books dashboard, it indicates that the currency of those settlements has not yet been enabled or added in your QuickBooks account. You must add the missing currency to QuickBooks before Link My Books can successfully send these settlements.

This article will guide you through the necessary steps.

What You'll Need

Before you begin, please note that the multi-currency feature is only available with QuickBooks Online Essentials or Plus plans. If you are using a different QuickBooks Online subscription, you may need to upgrade to access this functionality.

Overview of Steps:

  1. Enable the Multi-Currency Feature in QuickBooks.

  2. Add the Specific Missing Currencies in QuickBooks.

  3. Refresh Link My Books' QuickBooks Cache.

Step 1: Enable Multi-Currency in QuickBooks

First, you need to ensure that the multi-currency feature is activated in your QuickBooks Online account.

  1. Log in to your QuickBooks Online account.

  2. Navigate to Settings (βš™οΈ icon) > Account and Settings (under 'Your Company').

  3. Click on the Advanced tab down the left hand side

  4. In the 'Currency' section, click the pencil icon (✏️) to edit.

  5. Toggle the Multi-currency option to 'On'.

Step 2: Add the Specific Missing Currencies in QuickBooks

Once multi-currency is enabled, you can add the specific currencies required for your settlements.

  1. From the 'Currency' section (where you just enabled multi-currency), click the 'Manage Currencies' button. QuickBooks Currency Center

  2. On the 'Manage Currencies' page, click the 'Add Currency' button.

  3. Select the missing currency (e.g., SEK, PLN, EUR) from the list and confirm.

Step 3: Refresh Link My Books' QuickBooks Cache

After adding the currency in QuickBooks, you need to inform Link My Books about this change by refreshing its cache.

  1. Switch back to your Link My Books account.

  2. Click the 'Refresh QuickBooks Cache' button.

What to Expect Next

After successfully adding the currency in QuickBooks and refreshing the cache in Link My Books, return to your Link My Books dashboard. The "Add missing currency" error should now be resolved, and you will be able to send those settlements to QuickBooks.
