If most of your sales happen in a few busy months, you might be wondering whether a peak will push you onto a higher plan. Here's how Link My Books works out your plan, and how you can make sure your quieter months are taken into account.
How your plan is set
When you first subscribe, your plan is based on the number of orders in the last 30 days.
After that, we look at two figures each time we check your plan:
Your last 30 day order count. This is the number of orders in the most recent 30 days, and it's the figure shown on your Billing page in the Plans section.
Your rolling average. This is the average number of orders per month across your completed months, up to 12 months. The current month isn't included until it has finished.
We always use whichever figure is lower. So a single busy month won't move you up a plan as long as your rolling average stays within your current plan's limit.
Using historical data to balance out a peak
Your rolling average is based on the order history held in your account, so the more history you have, the more your quieter months balance out the busy ones. This applies from your very first month on a paid plan.
If you've recently joined and your busy season is coming up, importing older data can make a big difference. Without it, your average would only cover the months since you joined, and a peak could push it over your plan limit.
Premium plans include historical data, and on any plan you can import older data from the Settlements Dashboard using "Import older data". How far back you can go depends on your plan and what your sales channel allows. Imported months are included in your rolling average. For more on this, see Accessing Historical Data.
If you've purchased a historical data bundle, please get in touch with our Support team once your import has finished, so we can make sure those months are fully reflected in your rolling average.
Example
Say a business averages around 4,400 orders a month across the year, with most of its sales in November and December. If it imports 12 months of history, its rolling average stays under 5,000 orders a month even during the peak, so it would stay on a 5K plan. If this year's peak is much bigger than last year's, the average can still rise enough to move it up a plan.
If your plan does change
If your orders take you above your plan's limit, we'll email you before any upgrade, and the change will apply 7 days later.
Downgrades aren't automatic. When your orders drop, you can move to a lower plan by going to the account dropdown (top right of the dashboard), then Billing, then Plans. Any downgrade results in a credit on your account, which is used against your next invoice.
