At Link My Books, we strive to ensure your bookkeeping is 100% accurate. To maintain this precision, we have updated how we handle Amazon settlements that arrive from marketplaces outside of your connected region.
Why some settlements are now "Skipped"
Amazon’s API occasionally sends settlement data for marketplaces in one region (e.g., Saudi Arabia or UAE) through a connection established for a different region (e.g., Europe).
Previously, attempting to process these mismatched settlements caused errors because tax codes, currency mappings, and accounting rules vary significantly between regions. To prevent incorrect financial data from entering your accounts, Link My Books now automatically detects and skips settlements that do not match your connected region.
How it works
Automatic Detection: Our system checks the currency and marketplace data of every incoming settlement.
Validation: If you have an EU connection, settlements in GBP or EUR will process normally.
Prevention: If that same EU connection receives a settlement in SAR (Saudi Riyal) or AED (UAE Dirham), it will be marked as skipped. This ensures that Middle Eastern tax rules aren't accidentally applied to your EU bookkeeping.
How to process settlements from other regions
If you sell in multiple regions (such as North America, Europe, or the Far East), you simply need to create a dedicated connection for each one within Link My Books.
Example Scenario: You sell on Amazon Germany (EU) and Amazon Saudi Arabia (Middle East).
Your EU connection handles your German sales.
Your Saudi Arabian settlements are currently being "skipped" by the EU connection.
The Solution: Add a new Amazon account connection in Link My Books specifically for the Middle East region.
Once the correct regional connection is live, Link My Books will pull those settlements and process them using the correct tax and currency settings.
Frequently Asked Questions
Why does Amazon send settlements to the "wrong" region?
This is a function of how Amazon’s Selling Partner API (SP-API) operates. When a seller operates in multiple global marketplaces, Amazon often routes data through whichever regional endpoint is currently connected, regardless of where the sale happened.
Are my skipped settlements lost?
Not at all. The data remains safe within Amazon. As soon as you add the corresponding regional connection in Link My Books, we can retrieve and process those settlements correctly.
Can’t Link My Books just process them anyway?
We prioritise your data integrity. Processing a Middle Eastern or Indian settlement using European tax logic would result in incorrect filings and accounting errors. Requiring a regional connection ensures your books stay compliant and accurate.
