TikTok Shop payout data discrepancy errors

Written by Ruth Buan
Updated over a week ago

When TikTok Shop sends payout data that doesn’t match what you were actually paid, Link My Books will:

  • Clearly flag the affected settlement in your Settlements dashboard

  • Let you choose how to resolve it:

    1. Make a manual adjustment (to seller fees or reserved balances), or

    2. Raise a ticket with TikTok Shop support using a diagnostic email we send you

This article covers when this error appears, how to find the settlement, and how to use each option.

When does this error appear?

You’ll only see this TikTok data discrepancy error when:

  • TikTok Shop’s API has missing or incorrect data for a payout, and

  • The discrepancy has been confirmed to be on TikTok’s side (for example, the statement is incomplete or the totals don’t add up based on the data they send)

It’s not caused by your Link My Books settings or mappings. It’s an issue with the payout data TikTok sends via their API.

How to find the affected settlement

  1. Go to Settlements in Link My Books.

  2. Filter your channel to TikTok Shop (if needed).

  3. Look for any payout row that:

    • Shows an error status, and/or

    • Clearly indicates a TikTok data discrepancy (for example, an error message stating that TikTok data does not match the payout).

  4. On that settlement row, open the How to resolve dropdown to see your options.

Your two options

For a TikTok API data discrepancy, you can:

  1. Make a manual adjustment
Adjust seller fees or reserved balances so your books match what TikTok actually paid you.

  2. Raise a ticket with TikTok Shop support
Request a TikTok Payout Diagnostic Email from Link My Books and copy it into a TikTok Seller Center support ticket.

You can choose either option, or use both (for example, adjust now so your accounting is correct, and still contact TikTok to fix the underlying issue).

Option 1: Make a manual adjustment

Use this if you’re comfortable posting a small adjustment so your accounts match the payout that hit your bank.

How to make a manual adjustment

  1. Go to Settlements and find the affected TikTok Shop settlement.

  2. On that row, open the How to resolve dropdown.

  3. Choose the option to Adjust settlement manually.

  4. On the adjustment screen, review:

    • The payout amount TikTok actually paid you

    • The amounts calculated from TikTok’s data in Link My Books

  5. Decide where to post the difference:

    • Seller fees – if you believe TikTok has charged or refunded extra fees

    • Reserved balances – if you believe funds have been held back or released early/late

  6. Confirm the adjustment so the settlement can complete and be posted.

When this option makes sense

  • You want your books to match the bank as quickly as possible

  • The discrepancy is small and can be treated as an adjustment

  • You don’t need TikTok to change the payout itself — you just need your accounting to be correct

Option 2: Raise a ticket with TikTok Shop support

Use this if you want TikTok to investigate and explain (or correct) the payout data.

Link My Books can send you a TikTok Payout Diagnostic Email that you can copy and paste directly into a TikTok Seller Center support ticket.

When this option is available

The “Request TikTok Diagnostic” option appears in the How to resolve dropdown only when:

  • The issue has been confirmed as a TikTok data problem, and

  • The settlement has a TikTok data discrepancy error

If you don’t see this option, that payout is not in this specific error state.

How to request the diagnostic email

  1. Go to Settlements and find the affected TikTok Shop payout with the error.

  2. Open the How to resolve dropdown for that settlement.

  3. Click Request TikTok Diagnostic.

  4. A confirmation popup will explain that:

    • We’ll re-check the payout using TikTok’s API

    • A detailed diagnostic email will be sent to you

  5. Click Send Diagnostic to confirm.

Where the email is sent

The diagnostic email is sent to your Link My Books notification email address (the same address you receive other account notifications on).

What’s in the diagnostic email?

The email is structured so you can copy and paste it directly into a TikTok Seller Center support ticket. It includes:

  • Ready-to-use ticket text

    • A clear explanation of the issue

    • A suggested subject and message body for TikTok support

  • Your TikTok payout details

    • Shop ID

    • Payment ID

    • Settlement amounts (for example, TikTok’s reported amount vs what was actually paid)

    • A description of the specific discrepancies found in the TikTok data

  • Technical trace information for TikTok

    • TikTok API Request IDs related to the problematic data

    • Only Request IDs from the API calls that contained the issue

    • A note explaining that if TikTok re-runs the payout or resends data, new Request IDs will be generated

  • Step-by-step instructions for you

    • How to log in to TikTok Seller Center

    • Where to submit a support ticket

    • What to paste into the ticket (you can copy the text directly from the email)

After you contact TikTok

Once you’ve submitted a ticket via TikTok Seller Center:

  • TikTok’s support team can use the Request IDs and payout details to trace the issue on their side.

  • They may:

    • Explain why the payout data appears inconsistent, or

    • Correct the statement and/or issue an adjustment in a future payout.

In the meantime, you can:

  • Keep your books accurate with Option 1 (manual adjustment)

  • If TikTok later issues a correction, update your accounting to match

Frequently asked questions

Will requesting a diagnostic email change my payout?

No. Requesting the diagnostic:

  • Does not change the payout you received from TikTok

  • Does not change anything in your Link My Books account by itself

It simply re-checks TikTok’s data and sends you a detailed report you can forward to TikTok support.

Can I request the diagnostic more than once?

Yes. Each time you request it:

  • Link My Books fetches fresh data from TikTok’s API

  • New Request IDs may be generated and included in the email

  • You always have the latest information TikTok has sent

Do I still need to contact TikTok if I make a manual adjustment?

It’s your choice:

  • If you’re happy to treat the difference as a fee or reserve adjustment in your accounts, you may not need to contact TikTok.

  • If the discrepancy is large or recurring, we recommend also raising a support ticket with TikTok so they can investigate and correct the root cause.
