Uploading Product Costs with Custom CSV Columns

How to use your own spreadsheet format when uploading product costs

Feature overview

You can now upload product cost CSV files even if they use your own column names (for example, exports from Sellerboard or custom spreadsheets).

Instead of having to match a strict Link My Books template, you just upload your file and quickly tell Link My Books which columns are SKU, cost, and (optionally) other fields.

How it impacts you

  • You no longer need to rewrite or reformat your product cost files.

  • Files from tools like Sellerboard are less likely to “break” if their layout or headings change.

  • Uploads should be faster, with fewer errors and less back-and-forth.

  • Existing templates still work as before—nothing changes if you already use the standard Link My Books format.

How to upload your product cost CSV

Option 1 – Your file already uses Link My Books headings

  1. In Link My Books, go to Settings → Product Costs → Upload.

  2. Upload your CSV file.

  3. If your column headings already match the standard Link My Books format, the system will:

    • skip the mapping step, and

    • process the upload straight away, just like before.

You do not need to do anything extra in this case.

Option 2 – Your file uses different (custom) headings

  1. In Link My Books, go to Settings → Product Costs → Upload and upload your CSV file.

  2. If your file uses different column names, a mapping screen will open automatically.

  3. On this screen, you will see Link My Books fields such as:

    • SKU

    • Product Name

    • Landed Cost (Product Cost)

    • Product Group

  4. For each field, use the dropdown to choose the matching column from your file:

    • SKU is required.

    • You must also map at least one of: Landed Cost / Product Cost or Product Group.

    • The other fields are optional.

  5. When you are happy with the matches, click Confirm Mapping.

  6. Link My Books will then use your mapping to read the file correctly and update your product costs.

This works the same way for both regular bulk product cost uploads and COGS‑by‑date monthly uploads.
