What's new
Some Amazon EU settlements contain no orders or refunds — for example, a settlement made up only of removal fees, reimbursements or Cross-Account Debt Adjustments. Amazon identifies the marketplace through order and refund lines, so these settlements don't tell us which EU marketplace they came from. Because EUR is used across nine Amazon marketplaces, we can't work it out from the currency either.
Until now these settlements showed a Select Marketplace button and couldn't be sent to Xero or QuickBooks until you manually picked a marketplace for each one — which meant recording a marketplace that was really a guess.
You can now opt in to have Link My Books automatically assign these settlements to a new virtual marketplace called Amazon EUR. Once assigned, the settlement is processed like any other and can be sent to Xero or QuickBooks.
Who this is for
You have an Amazon EU account connected to Link My Books
You have settlements in EUR showing Select Marketplace
How it works
When the setting is enabled on your account:
New settlements — any new EUR settlement where we can't identify a real marketplace is assigned to Amazon EUR as a last resort, after every other method of identifying the marketplace has been tried.
Existing settlements — any EUR settlements already sitting on your dashboard with Select Marketplace are also assigned to Amazon EUR, no matter how old they are, as long as they haven't already been sent to your accounting software or hidden.
Amazon EUR is only ever used when a real marketplace genuinely can't be determined. If we can identify the marketplace, we always use the real one. Settlements in any currency other than EUR are never affected.
In Link My Books, these settlements show Amazon EUR in the marketplace column (with no country flag). In Xero or QuickBooks, the contact on the resulting entry reads Amazon EUR.
How to turn it on
This setting is currently enabled by our support team on request — there isn't an in-app toggle yet. Contact us via live chat and ask us to enable auto-assign Amazon EUR on your account.
What to do after it's enabled
1. Map the new Amazon EUR accounts
Once enabled, Amazon EUR appears as a new marketplace in your account mappings. Head to your Missing Mappings page and complete the mappings for Amazon EUR so settlements can be sent.
2. QuickBooks only: map the Amazon EUR bank account
If you use QuickBooks, you'll also need to map a deposit and a spend bank account for Amazon EUR. Go to Settings → QuickBooks Bank Accounts and you'll see a new Amazon EUR row with deposit and spend selectors. Map both before sending settlements, otherwise they'll fail with a "Missing Banking Accounting Codes" error.
Xero users don't need to do this step.
Things to be aware of
⚠️ Settlements may be sent automatically. If you have auto-post enabled, any settlement resolved to Amazon EUR will be sent to Xero or QuickBooks automatically once it has been reprocessed, with no further action from you — just like any other settlement whose marketplace is known. If you'd prefer to review these first, turn auto-post off before asking us to enable the setting.
You can still choose a real marketplace. The Select Marketplace option remains available on each settlement. If you know which marketplace a settlement belongs to, you can override Amazon EUR with the real one at any time.
Turning the setting off doesn't undo previous assignments. Settlements already assigned to Amazon EUR keep that marketplace even if the setting is later disabled. If you opt out and want to change those settlements, you'll need to reassign each one to a real marketplace using Select Marketplace.
Reporting. Amazon EUR amounts are included in your marketplace P&L and VAT audit reports as their own line.
FAQ
Why not just pick a marketplace automatically?
Because it would be a guess, and it could be wrong. A dedicated Amazon EUR marketplace makes it clear in your books which entries couldn't be attributed to a specific country, rather than quietly attributing them to the wrong one.
Will this change anything if I don't opt in?
No. The setting is off by default and nothing changes on your account until you ask us to enable it.
Do I need to do anything for settlements in other currencies?
No. Non-EUR settlements already map to a single marketplace, so they don't have this problem.
If you'd rather resolve settlements manually, see I am getting the error unknown marketplace country.
