What happens if I exceed my monthly order limit on Link My Books, and how do I upgrade my plan?
When using Link My Books, your chosen subscription plan includes a specific monthly order limit.
Exceeding this limit can disrupt your service; however, the platform automatically upgrades your plan to accommodate higher order volumes.
Below, we outline what exceeding your limit means, how the system alerts you, and how we adjust your subscription to meet your business needs.
Understanding Your Plan Limits
Each Link My Books subscription plan comes with a defined maximum number of orders it covers monthly. For example, the Starter 100 Lite plan supports up to 100 orders per month.
Monitoring Your Order Count
Link My Books looks at your order volume in two ways:
Your average monthly orders over the last 12 months
Your rolling order count in the last 30 days
This means your plan is always based on whichever figure is more favourable to you.
If your order count exceeds your current subscription plan's limit, the system will actively notify you.
Sales Channel Limits (All Plan Tiers)
Important: Every plan tier has a sales channel cap — not just Lite. If you connect more sales channels than your plan allows, your account will show as "overplan" and the overplan email flow will trigger even if your order count is well within your limit.
Here is the sales channel allowance for each tier:
Plan tier | Sales channels included |
Lite | 1 sales channel |
Plus | 2 sales channels |
Pro | 5 sales channels |
Premium | 10+ sales channels (contact support for larger setups) |
For example, a customer on the Pro plan with 5,000 orders/month is well inside the Pro order limit — but if they connect a 6th sales channel, they will still receive the "exceeded plan" notification because Pro only supports 5 channels. The same logic applies to every tier.
To resolve an over-channel situation, you can either:
Remove the extra sales channel(s) so you're back within your current plan's channel allowance, or
Upgrade to the next plan tier which supports more channels
You can check your connected sales channels from Settings → Account Settings in your Link My Books dashboard.
How to upgrade from a Lite plan to a Plus (or higher) plan
If you are currently on a Lite plan and want to upgrade to a Plus plan to support multiple sales channels, you need to connect your second sales channel first. The billing page will only show the Plus plan option once you have more than one sales channel connected.
Here are the steps:
First, connect your additional sales channel (e.g. eBay, Shopify, Etsy) by clicking your account name (top right) and selecting Add new account. Follow the on-screen steps to connect the new channel. See How to connect additional sales channels for full instructions.
Once your second channel is connected, go to your account name (top right) → Billing → Plans tab.
The system will now show the Plus plan (2 channels) as the recommended plan based on your connected channels and order volume.
Follow the on-screen steps to complete the plan change.
💡 Why can I only see a Lite plan on the billing page?
The billing page shows plans based on your current number of connected sales channels. If you only have one channel connected, it will only show Lite plan options. Once you connect a second channel, the Plus (and higher) plan options will appear automatically.
Requesting Your Order Count Data
If you'd like to see your actual 12-month order count, our support team can provide this on request — simply reach out to [email protected].
Please note that a breakdown of order counts by individual sales channel is not currently available. If this is something you'd find useful, you're welcome to submit a feature request at linkmybooks.com/feature-requests.
Upgrading to a Higher Plan
If you exceed your plan's order limit or channel limit, here's what happens:
You'll receive a first email notification letting you know your account has exceeded your plan limit.
A second email is sent the day before your plan is upgraded.
7 days after the first email, your plan will be automatically upgraded to the next tier.
You'll be charged a pro-rata amount for the upgrade — this covers the cost difference from the upgrade date until your next billing date.
Note: You can always check your rolling 30 day order count from your Billing page. You must be the account/subscription owner to see the Billing information.
Go to the account dropdown on your dashboard and choose Billing.
The 'Plans' tab will show your order count and most appropriate plan.
